Teaching Plan
My Sample Lesson Plan

This is the lesson plan that I used during my practice teaching at SMA Lab School. There is no fixed lesson plan template being used there. Every teacher uses their own lesson plan template. Although I was given a sample lesson plan by my cooperating teacher, I decided not to follow it entirely given that she gave me the liberty to choose the template that I would use. In the end, I chose to use the 4As lesson plan (activity, analysis, abstraction, application, and assignment) to cater to a learner-centered learning which supports the inductive method of teaching.
Curriculum

My regular (left) and bilingual (right) class at SMA Lab School.
Being a teacher in a regular and a bilingual class, I was able to see the difference in the levels of English skills. Teaching in the bilingual class is easier, given that students can already express themselves fluently in the target language. They even challenge ideas and ask questions. Whereas in the regular class, there is a huge gap between the learners who can speak and understand English and those who cannot. Sure, there are those who can express themselves in English, but there are also those who are evidently at the beginner level. So, for the regular class, I adjusted my instructional materials by including some Bahasa Indonesia translations and employing the total physical response (TPR) to make the beginner learners understand as well through body language.
The Three Classes
During our meeting at SMA Lab School after the opening ceremony, we were oriented that there are 3 categories of English classes: regular, bilingual, and tauhid. To explain, regular classes are consist of students who are at the beginner level when it comes to English; bilingual classes are composed of students who are in the average to advance level in English; while tauhid classes focus on English in relation to religion.

Given that I am not knowledgeable of the Islam religion, I do not have the capacity to teach a tauhid class. Therefore, I was assigned to teach a regular and a bilingual class, both from Grade 11.
